RoboKnight actually wins two out of three fights at House of NERC. In RoboKnight's first fight at HON it soundly beat a mechanically challenged undercutter. In its second fight RoboKnight got totally blown apart, but was salvageable for a third win. Unfortunately dad had to leave on a business trip and otherwised missed the chance at placing third.

Team Crazy Dad Combat Robotics

Welcome to the team web site of Team Crazy Dad - which is nothing more than one dad (me) and my three young sons having some fun building and competing combat robots. I think we have a good synergy here. I enjoy design and construction, especially engineering things subject to significant constraints as combat can be. My sons on the other hand are your typical boys and excel in the art of destruction and typical boy's play. While at present they are only 4, 6 and 9 years old, the potential for descruction and mayhem is clearly present. Better to channel it in pseudo-educational activities than not, i say.

So far we are just getting into this roboto combat stuff. We've only built one real bot (Robo Knight) and have participated only two events (PennBots Summer Fair 2005 and House of NERC 2005). Our other bot Naked, is really a sparring partner and not meant for serious competition, however we will consider using it at PennBots November competition.

Robo Knight

Our first robot. Carbon fiber armor, Copal 60:1 motors and a servo driven lifter (made from a computer port protector). While engineered very sound, Robo Knight's record is currently 4 for 8.

Dancer

Our first attempt at a beetleweight. Eion insisted that we build a bot that wouldn't compete on an insert, where it is entirely likely to drive one's self off the insert. Dad has been kind of keen to try a drum like McPee Pants. So Dancer was conceived. Currently it is mostly a CAD drawing, and lots of parts. Assembly has just started so we hope to be providing build reports soon.
